​Instructor Rick started taekwondo in 1989, training through the Maritime Martial Arts Academy and achieving his black belt in 1998 at age 15.  Instructor Rick left the academy in pursuit of a university career as a Physiotherapist - finally finding his way back under the tutelage of Grandmaster Kim in 2018.  Instructor Rick opened up KT Tae Kwon Do with Master Kim with Grandmaster Kim's blessing in Owen Sound and has vigorously practiced and taught since.  Instructor Rick's specialties are self-defense and power breaking, where he was the first student under Grandmaster Kim to ever perform the backhand break on cement slabs.  Instructor Rick's vision is to bring back the fundamentals of martial arts training in a new age, creating a long-lasting legacy of application of the five tenets for all his students.
